is a period piece taking place in the late 1700s and moving into the early 19th Century in the state of Tennessee. The tale centers around two cousins – Emily, a young American girl, daughter to a Puritan man and a ‘retired’ witch; and her cousin Erika, a mixed race offspring of Emily’s uncle and his Chickasaw Indian wife.

Emily and Erika grow up separately from each other on account of Emily’s father, Robert, who refuses to accept the union of his brother Jed to his chosen, Taynee. Neither does he allow his family to be around Jed’s adopted Chickasaw clan.

As we watch the two cousins finally come into their supernatural powers together, another paranormal, the vampiress Charissa of Blood Light, begins her journey from England to America in her newly undead life.

The girls nonetheless become aware of one another at a young age through dreams. On Emily’s part, probably due to her passed down witch gene; on Erika’s, likely her tribe’s beliefs tying to Mother Earth.

As they age, the dreams subside and the girls move on from one another in that respect, learning and growing in their own way. Time pushes them on towards their youth, but Emily never forgets Erika entirely, attempting, when she has the chance, to sneak into Indian territory behind her father’s back. Her goal: To see the cousin she only dreamt of previously.

It’s hit and miss in Emily’s endeavors to do so, sometimes getting caught and punished by Robert; consequences to the effect of basement banishment – where her mother’s old grimiores are buried – where she begins to learn them and come into the craft.

Simultaneously, Erika learns more of her spirit animal, the wolf; seeking as much as she can, to actually bond with one she encounters in the wild while honing her hunting skills. She names him ‘Nashoba,’ Chickasaw for ‘wolf.’
